Frequently asked questions
Q: What is your service area?
A: We primarily service Klein, Champion Forest, Spring, Willowbrook, and some neighborhoods in Cypress, Woodlands, and Humble. We may be able to accommodate out of area requests depending on the distance and our schedule- however we do charge a mileage fee per visit.
Q: Are you insured and bonded?
A: Yes we are insured and bonded through Pet Care Insurance.
Q: I want you to watch my pets. What is the process?
A: We are thrilled that you want us to be your pets new best friend! First, we will have a phone call to discuss your needs. We will then arrange an in person consultation to get to know you and your pets. Prior to the consultation, you will need to fill out our Pet Care Agreement, and create your account with Time To Pet. Once you fill out your profile we can proceed with the in person meeting! Filling out your pets information prior to our meeting helps us understand your pets before meeting them face to face.
Q: Do you charge for meet & greets?
A: Yes, we charge $30 for our first meeting. This will go toward your first invoice if you book with us. The consultation fee is non-refundable if you do not book any services with us.
Q: What is Time To Pet and why do I need it?
A: Time To Pet is the software we use to handle all business functions. This user-friendly app allows you to view all the reports we send after our visits, and has a chat feed where you can directly message your sitters! You can request services, cancel or change appointments, create detailed profiles for each of your pets, view your upcoming visit schedule, view invoices, and make payments- all through the app! Every visit is also GPS tracked- you can see what time your sitter arrived and left, how long they stayed, and even view the route your sitter walked with your pup!
Q: What kind of pets do you care for?
A: We primarily care for dogs and cats, however we have also taken care of hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, turtles, chameleons, bearded dragons, African Sulcata Tortoises, and birds!
Q: Do you do housesitting?
A: Yes, we can check on your house even if you don’t have pets!
Q: What if my pet is on medications?
A: We administer medications of any kind, and are trained to give insulin shots to both dogs and cats. We also can administer subcutaneous fluids.
Q: Do you groom dogs or cats?
A: We do not clip hair, but we offer bathing services such as de-shedding, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and nail trims. We clip cats nails and can bathe them too!
Q: Do you do farm sitting?
A: Liz’s Pet Care does not offer farm sitting, however we recommend Hoof, Paw, and Claw pet sitting for all your farm care needs!
Q: Do you work with aggressive pets?
A: As long as we are safely able to enter and exit the home, we work with aggressive animals on a case-by-case basis. We will decline care if we do feel the pet is a threat to our safety or the safety of the other animals in the household.
Q: How many visits does my pet need every day?
A: Dogs with no doggy door require a minimum of three drop-in visits per day. Dogs with a doggy door require twice daily visits. Cats and other small animals require once daily visits.
Q: Do you do every other day visits for cats?
A: We do not. For the safety of your pet, we require that cats be checked on daily.
Q: Do you charge more for extra pets?
A: We do not charge an extra pet fee unless there are more than five pets in your household.
Q: Do you charge more on holidays?
A: In order to provide you with quality care every day of the year, we work all holidays so you can enjoy yours worry-free! We charge holiday fees per visit during peak travel seasons. The holiday fee fully goes toward the sitter who is caring for your pet.
Q: Will you text me photos of my pet while I am away?
A: We send written reports through Time To Pet after every visit which include photos of your pet!
Q: Who will be entering my home?
A: I, Liz, am the owner and primary sitter for all my clients, but I have a backup sitter who assists with visits as needed. We will soon be adding more team members. Working as a team ensures that your pets will have uninterrupted care no matter what happens!
Q: Are you hiring?
A: We are not currently hiring at the moment, but if you are interested in being considered, please fill out our hiring form for future consideration.
Q: Do you offer grooming or just baths? And do I bring my dog to you?
A: I am a certified and professionally trained groomers assistant. I do not travel in a salon vehicle, so we will bathe your pet inside or outside your home, or other location of your choosing. In extreme temperatures we will bathe indoor only. Prices vary depending on size, breed, coat length and condition of coat. We do not clip coats, however light de-matting may be performed at an additional cost after evaluating the severity of the matting. The pet will need to be deferred to a professional full-service groomer for severe matting. We do not do hair clipping or styling of the coat. We bring all our own supplies including bath products, towels, portable high-velocity dryer. If you have specific products for us to use, or prefer us to use your own supplies, please let us know prior to your appointment. If your pet has allergies, sensitivities, or any conditions, please let us know. After the bath is completed we will clean up the area from hair and water. We have a right to terminate the session if the pet is aggressive or uncooperative, however a travel fee of $30 will be charged for our time.
Q: How long does a bath service take?
A: Please expect the average bath to take up to an hour for a small to medium sized dog, or a dog with short hair. Larger dogs, and dogs with very long and thick coats may take up to two hours. Flea treatments add an additional 15-30 minutes to any bath service depending on size of dog and the severity of infestation. De-shedding services on most short haired dogs take 1-2 hours total, including clean up. For long haired dogs with heavy shedding, please expect up a time frame of 2-3 hours- not including cleanup. Cleanup after de-shedding takes longer than a standard bath, and could take up to 30 minutes if the blowout was heavy.
Q: Do you bathe cats?
A: Yes we bathe cats and trim their nails too.
